    Lotus Connections 2.0 at Lotusphere

    David A Brooks  January 23 2008 06:23:06 AM
Lotusphere is now wrapped up and lots of exciting news about Lotus Connections was announced.  RIM demonstrated Lotus Connections on the Blackberry device  - more info here.   A business partner, Lotus 911, has deployed a public social networking site powered by Lotus Connections.  And at OGS, the release of Lotus Connections 2.0 was announced with a number of its new features demonstrated on stage by Suzanne (great job).  Connections in 2.0 will get translated to many more languages including Arabic and Russian.  We are introducing a homepage that will provide a snapshot of important information since your last visit and allow custom widgets including out of the box support of Yahoo Answers.  Connections is also adding site wide social search capabilities,  ratings, a unified bookmarking experience, integration of Communities with external Wikis (Confluence, SocialText, and Quickr) and Quickr Places,  building a network of colleagues in profiles (i.e. friending), and the ability to re-use structured entry types within Activities.  This is really just a short list of some features that were shown at Lotusphere -- Connections 2.0 will be exciting.   In future posts I will dive deeper on specific features.

What were some of your favorite features in Lotus Connections 2.0 that were shown at Lotusphere?
