Today, IBM announced the planned availability dates for Lotus Connections 2.5 which are as follows:
- August 28, 2009 (electronic software delivery).
- September 18, 2009 (media and documentation).
Among the new features in this release are the following:
A new personal file sharing service permits files to be uploaded and securely shared with others. Files can be tagged so they can be found more quickly. Recommendations and comments can be added to files.
A new wiki service allows content to be assembled and edited collaboratively. Wiki page versions can be compared to view what has changed.
The new wiki and file sharing capabilities (as well as Activities and Blogs) can be used by members of communities. The community experience can be further customized by selecting a theme for the user interface, and choosing the arrangement and selection of social software widgets.
The Home page presents social data updates from across the Lotus Connections services in a new list format to help you remain informed of updates from your social network.
